La banda de la semana: Blondie.

Blondie es el nombre de una de las bandas más exitosas y originales de los años setenta, parte de la llamada Nueva Ola, y precedente estético y musical del pop de los ochenta.

De origen neoyorquino, iniciaron su andadura musical en 1975 junto a otras bandas locales como The Ramones, dentro del recién surgido movimiento punk-rock. Sus primeros conciertos en la sala CBGB supusieron una plataforma para dar a conocer a la banda en Nueva York.

La imagen de la banda, liderada por la vocalista Deborah Harry, comenzó a atraer la atención del público, convirtiendose así en una de las bandas musicales mas exitosas del mundo.

Considerados a día de hoy como una de las bandas más interesantes e influyentes del pop rock, multitud de artistas tan dispares como The Strokes, Madonna, Garbage, No Doubt, Blur ó The Sounds han confesado su admiración por la mítica banda neoyorkina, y Blondie se ha convertido en la única banda que ha conseguido números uno en tres decadas consecutivas. Además, Debbie Harry está incluida en el libro Guinness de los Records, como la cantante mas madura de la historia en conseguir un número uno en las listas de éxitos de UK con "Maria". En (2006), Blondie han sido incluidos en el codiciado Salon de la Fama del Rock n'Roll.
